WEMIX Smart Contract Compromised, $6.25 Million Lost
A security incident involving WEMIX resulted in the illegal minting of stablecoins worth $6.25 million. The team has suspended services to address the breach and track the funds.
The owner privileges of a WEMIX$-related smart contract were compromised, enabling the attacker to mint approximately 5.23 million WEMIX$ stablecoins. These stablecoins, valued at about $6.25 million, were subsequently swapped into WEMIX and USDC.e before being bridged out.
In response to the incident, the WEMIX team has suspended bridges and related services. They are collaborating with exchanges, security firms, and law enforcement to track the stolen funds.
