MultiversX Network Paused Due to Exploit Attempt
An exploit attempt on the MultiversX mainnet led to invalid on-chain state changes. The network was paused to prevent further impact while engineers worked on a fix.
An attacker attempted to exploit a virtual-machine-level atomicity issue on the MultiversX mainnet, resulting in invalid on-chain state changes. In response to this incident, the network was paused to contain any further impact from the exploit. Engineers are currently preparing a fix for validation on a shadow fork, which aims to address the issue without compromising finalized history and legitimate user states.
The recovery plan involves reversing only the invalid changes related to the incident while maintaining the integrity of the rest of the blockchain. Users were advised against submitting or rebroadcasting transactions during this period. Additionally, they were instructed not to deposit or withdraw EGLD or ESDT via exchanges or bridges until the situation is resolved.
