Unauthorized Access to Based Visa Card Internal Dashboard

Based discovered unauthorized access to its internal dashboard for the Visa Card program. KYC data for some cardholders may have been compromised, but card functionality remains unaffected.

Based, a Web3 financial platform, detected unauthorized access to an internal dashboard used for managing its Visa Card program. The incident was contained shortly after detection. The dashboard reportedly contained KYC data collected by the card issuer for some cardholders, which may include sensitive information such as names, ID or passport numbers, dates of birth, and addresses.

Despite the potential exposure of KYC data, the incident did not affect card numbers, CVV codes, PINs, ID photos, liveness records, the Based Wallet, or card funds. As a result, the cards continue to function normally for users. Affected users were promptly notified via email about the incident.

In response to the breach, authorities were informed, and users were cautioned about potential phishing and social-engineering risks that may arise from the incident. The situation highlights the importance of vigilance among users regarding their personal information.
